4 Ways To Draw Attention For Your Blog

Once you've taken the time and effort to set up a blog, you no doubt want to get people reading it as soon as possible. After all, that is why you write a blog, isn't it? If you wanted to keep your writing to yourself then you'd be writing a diary instead, and storing it under your mattress where nobody would ever find it. Blogging is a lot about community - between you and your readers, as well as you and other blog owners. If you want to be a part of it, there are a few surefire ways to help your new blog stand out and get noticed. traveling

1. Develop Your Own Writing Style: A strong following starts with good quality content that stands out in some way from what everyone else is writing. As a new blogger this can be difficult, but if you consistently write over a month or so, you'll find yourself falling pretty soon into a style that suits you and your readers. People will likely listen to you because you offer a unique perspective, so don't be afraid to be different.

2. Comment On Other Blogs: A popular way to gain exposure among people interested in your chosen niche is to post comments on other blogs with a link back to your own blog. There is a certain etiquette you should follow, which basically says you shouldn't spam other blogs in an effort to gain readers. This plain looks bad, and more often than not your comments will be rejected. Instead, make sure you add something useful to the conversation, use your name or website name rather than a bunch of keywords and always aim to make the first comment when a new post comes up so you get the most attention.

3. Guest Post On Other Blogs: If you really want to make a splash and attract some readers to what you have to offer then perhaps the best way is to demonstrate your talents on an already popular blog. Many blogs will allow guest posts from other bloggers, and there are advantages to both parties, as it saves one blog owner time writing a post while giving the other a chance for exposure. Take some time to research popular blogs in your niche and see what sort of posts have already been written so you are better prepared to make a pitch to them.

4. Run A Contest: One really great way to get some attention is to create a contest that new visitors can enter. You can get the word out about your contest by posting and commenting on other blogs, or by running an AdWords campaign if you have more of a budget. If you have a small amount of graphic design skill, then my recommendation is to create a banner ad in multiple sizes (see Google for the exact dimensions) so that they appear as often as possible. The reason I suggest using an image ad is they are usually cheaper clicks-wise, plus it gives you a chance to start giving an attractive visual brand to your blog before visitors even get there.
